Grupo Boticário is concerned with the development of formulas that will be applied to more vulnerable people, such as children, pregnant women and people with sensitive skin.

An example of this is that, in the development of children’s products, we adopt some premises and particularities of the children’s public, always committed to delivering a product with the best quality and safety.

We know that the baby’s skin is different from the adult’s, being more vulnerable and susceptible to irritating agents and having specific needs. Therefore, it is important to use products that are suitable for each age group.

The choice of the fragrance that will be used follows strict international safety standards of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), in addition, it follows a Fragrance Development Guide with specific premises for this audience according to the age group, being more restricted to audiences up to 3 years and hypoallergenic products, in which they must be exempt from substances with recognized allergenic potential.
We analyzed the formulation by predicting mode, frequency of use and calculating the safety margin (MoS), which, in this case, is different for children.

What is the calculation of the safety margin?
It is a mathematical calculation that extrapolates laboratory data, aiming at ensuring that the concentrations applied under the foreseeable conditions of use and the child’s age range are within a range that does not confer any systemic risk.
After this preclinical analysis, we move on to the final stage of the development process, which are our clinical tests.
These tests are carried out according to the type of product, following the most advanced international protocols and in partnership with clinical research institutes, always accompanied by dermatologists, pediatricians and/or ophthalmologists.

All of this to guarantee safety to the final public.
Clinical tests are performed first on the adult audience and then tested on the child audience. Thus, confirming the safety of the formula.
Then, we continue to follow this product closely on the market so that, based on this information, we can further improve the performance of our products and perfect the next releases.

SENSITIVE AND HYPOALLERGENIC SKIN

People who have this type of skin are more susceptible to adverse reactions and, when this occurs, it can have an increased severity. Therefore, it is important to use products that are suitable for this type of skin.

Hypoallergenic
Those considered hypoallergenic are those products whose low allergenic potential is recognized and proven to be reduced, in relation to products of the same type.
This type of product is generally used by individuals with a positive response to allergic or photoallergic reactions, who have a better tolerance for products whose formula does not include substances with a history of causing these problems.

We know that sensitive skin has specific needs, as it presents a greater “reactivity” to environmental factors or products such as cosmetics, for example, in which symptoms such as itching, pinching, burning, among others, are manifested.
